A Ludlow icon, reborn

About Castle Lodge

Welcome to Castle Lodge – a boutique hotel in the heart of Ludlow. A proud 16th-century relic in a town full of Georgian gems. A place quite unlike any other place on Earth.

For you, it's an escape. For us, it's a way of life. Since purchasing the Lodge in 2019, we've worked diligently to restore this crumbling treasure to its former glory.

We're proud to say we succeeded. Today, Castle Lodge is a palace of period features, carefully preserved and artfully accentuated through painstaking, detail-oriented design. Seven individually crafted, self-catering suites – each woven with a story from our 800-year archives. An opulent, wood-panelled restaurant. A modern bar with a timeless atmosphere. The sense that every space is just the way it should be.

The same goes for our service. When you stay with us, you can expect privacy when you want it and swift, attentive service when you need it. It's the way we'd like to be treated – and we think you'll love it, too.

Our 800-year history

When you visit Castle Lodge today, you walk in the footsteps of its distinguished former residents. Spies. Scientists. Sea captains, schoolmasters and – according to some –  a handful of Tudor royals. Those wood-panelled walls? They have stories to tell. Discover some of our favourites.

Our renovation journey

When we purchased Castle Lodge in 2019, we set out to bring this Tudor treasure back into the light. It was a labour of love – and like all love stories, it wasn't always smooth sailing. Find out how we did it, why we did it and what we discovered along the way.
