Ludlow has an opulent history of fine food & drink - Castle Lodge, glowing richly in Castle Square, is the epicentre for epicureans.

Led by chef and business partner Harry Evatt Bullock - our gastronomy brings together craftsmanship, character and the very best ingredients, whether sourced from local artisans or standout producers across the UK and beyond. Harry’s cookery champions seasonality, sustainability and flavour above all else, creating beautifully composed plates that feel both grounded and exciting.

Whether you’re staying with us, joining for dinner, celebrating in our private dining room, or simply dropping in for aperitivo, our approach is consistent: warm hospitality, exceptional ingredients and a setting unlike anywhere else.

About Harry Evatt Bullock

Harry is known for his precise sourcing, deep respect for seasonality, and a cooking style that balances precision with generosity. His reputation as one of Shropshire’s most exciting culinary talents has grown from years of working with outstanding British produce and forging strong relationships with farmers, fishermen and growers.

Always been madly driven, Harry kicked off his career at the age of 11, at one of Ludow’s former greats - La Becasse. Cutting his teeth most weekends, in the art of precision, care and speed of work. Before leaving secondary school, Harry had 3 jobs - a drive for perfection not seen often. Over the years, most memorable times include working for Raymond Blanc, running his own kitchen at the Coach House, achieving 2 AA rosettes, and 10/10 at Hardens. And most recently running a highly successful private events company, cooking for dear regulars and Dame Judi Dench alike, Evatt & Bullock Co is still as strong as ever.

At Castle Lodge, Harry’s vision is clear: use the best ingredients available - local where possible, but always exceptional - treated with integrity and imagination. Expect bold flavours, elegant plates and a menu that evolves constantly with what’s in peak condition.

We are currently serving Wednesday - Saturday:

Aperitivo in the bar and snug 5pm - 6.30pm (walk ins only)

Dinner in the restaurant from 6pm (booking recommended)
